Shorin-Ryu Karate is a traditional style of karate from Okinawa, developed over hundreds of years by many generations of Okinawan karate masters.

The Ueshiro Okinawan Karate Club seeks to continue training Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu karate in the same time-honored method of those who came before.

Unlike modern karate schools, The Ueshiro Okinawan Karate Club does not use free-sparring or competitions as training devices. Rather, we follow the traditions of the masters before us and use kata, pre-arranged fighting and person-to-person training as the core of our training. It is based on cooperation, not competition.

In this tradition, the Ueshiro Okinawan Karate Club strives to develop harmony in mind, body and spirit on and off the deck.
